Asian-Americans have been the target of xenophobic attacks on social media networks. Platforms such as Tik Tok, Facebook, and Twitter have seen bigoted comments directed towards individuals of Asian descent. Tik Tok has taken steps to remove such hate-fueled comments; and while others have also, the extent to which each social media network enforces their hate speech policies has differed in terms of coronavirus-related content. The issue calls to attention social media's dangerous potential as an outlet for widespread xenophobic commentary reaching the masses at quick rates of dissemination.
