The rise of digital payments and markets in context of coronavirus-related isolation leads some to wonder whether physical cash is starting to make its way out the door. In our technologically controlled world, digital money reigns while the use of physical cash is more popularly relegated to less tech savvy groups of individuals. In addition to the less tech savvy, those who ordinarily do not have credit cards or access to banks may find themselves left behind. While the U.S. government affirms that stimulus checks by direct deposit will be received much quicker, and shoppers online shop amidst closed stores, digital exchanges embed themselves into everyday life.
