Divorce increase in China after quarantine


Since the rise of the COVID-19 crisis, China has seen a stark rise in divorce rates and filings. For example, a registry office in Xi'an had 14 new filings in a single day. Several experts and authorities have thought that this rise may be attributed to new self-isolation policies: couples have been spending more time together at home during these times of crisis, leading to increased arguments. Spending long periods in time together in close spaces have been thought to contribute to increasing couple's tensions.
