In Ecuador, recent trends have arisen of indigenous groups and communities rushing back to indigenous territory in attempts to avoid the coronavirus. The subsequent actions then entailed protecting the community by disallowing travel in and out. Paralleling history, indigenous populations have long been devastated by epidemics such as flu, measles, and yellow fever.
