Pandemic and Puerto Rico

Puerto Rico, still recovering from natural disasters in the past, struggles immensely in the wake of the pandemic. With so many citizens working in an informal economy, thousands are unable to receive unemployment benefits in the recession that ensues. Additionally, a severe drought impedes lower-income residents’ ability to wash their hands, among many other health and safety concerns.
