Extreme inequities in Nairobi are only more pronounced in the context of the pandemic, when some live in protected, well-equipped compounds while thousands of individuals living in poverty occupy densely populated informal settlements not far away. Closely populated quarters and inadequate sanitation conditions in informal settlements and refugee camps increase the vulnerability of already vulnerable groups of individuals.
